Description

Dalek Surgeon - Hive Era

As flexible a tool as the sucker pad was, the Daleks occasionally needed to replace it with more appropriate equipment, especially when conducting delicate work. Dalek surgeons were equipped with a whole host of additional devices to allow them to vivisect or augment captive alien lifeforms.

Another Dalek from 'Fire and Brimstone', there were actually two versions of this in the comic, but I merged the tools for simplicity's sake.

I'll do a picture of it in action at some point so you get a better idea of how the tools are set up.

[UPDATE: model improved in very subtle ways]

Doctor Who/Daleks = not mine, as should be obvious by how little money I have relative to the people who actually own them. This design is based on the Dalek surgeons drawn by Martin Geraghty and Robin Smith for the story 'Fire and Brimstone' by Alan Barnes.

I have an idea for a dalek design, what if daleks had some sort of "spoke" arrangement with their appendages within their torsos that had multiple tools attached to it? When they needed to switch their appendages, a port in the front would open and the next appendage would be rotated in place and then locked in while the previous appendage would be moved to the side and then put away within the housing of the dalek's torso. I always felt that the daleks would probably be intelligent enough to have some degree of modularity within their design.
