The unexpected intrusion of four time/space travellers into their city and the subsequent conflict with the surviving Thals throws the Daleks into utter confusion. While their back-up systems prevent their total destruction when the power distribution network is disrupted, the impact on their world-view is irreversible. Kaled science had held that there was no life among the stars: now, the Daleks are confronted with irrefutable proof of alien civilisation and, worse, indications that at least some of those civilisations are far more technologically advanced.
This is anathema and it cannot not be permitted to continue. As soon as its reserve power is activated, the Dalek race declares war on the universe. They will master space flight and escape the dead wastelands of Skaro. They will spread throughout the stars, exterminating any species that could threaten their supremacy. From this moment on, the Dalek creed will be one of conquest and destruction, until there is nothing left to stand against them.
Well, lighting this was a pain. I wanted to evoke the big crowd scene in 'Dr Who and the Daleks', only in a TV style. I'm quite pleased with how the crowd has come out - wasn't sure if I would be able to get enough of them in there, but I think it gives the right impression.
The Daleks belong to Terry Nation's estate, this picture belongs to me and so do the props, sets and dressing.
