Blender Daleks WIP

Description

So...this is what three weeks of playing with Blender has produced.

From left to right:

Mk 1 Travel Machine: the first itteration of what would eventually become the Dalek machine, here depicted based on the original concept art for the Daleks. No gun - given what Ronson says in Genesis of the Daleks, it seems to me that the original Travel Machine project would not have been to produced tanks so much as EVA suits.

Mk 3 Travel Machine (Genesis Dalek): the first actual Dalek (the name isn't applied before this version, after all), my depiction here is based on the Doctor's line, "Very primative, but undeniably a Dalek," which I never felt the actual production really lived up to (what with them using exactly the same Dalek prop they'd used in the previous four Dalek stories, all set thousands of years in the future, relavtice to Genesis). I based it on the Daleks who appear in 'The Daleks/The Dead Planet', with the bands and the smooth shoulder block, but with lots of added bolts and extra panelling to make it look less streamlined. The blocks hanging off the bands are batteries, designed to allow the Dalek to move beyond the confines of a building - they would later be replaced by the more effective power-receptor dish, and then ultimately by the solar slats. And yes, the gun wires are bent in the middle for that accurate 'dragged around by the gun' look.

Imperial Dalek: Not much to say, building a New Series Dalek to Imperial Dalek proportions seemed like fun.

New Paradigm Dalek: You're all probably sick to death of this version by now!

The Daleks, in all their iterations, belong to the BBC and the Terry Nation Estate.

Love the left version, very much like the original concept art for the Daleks in the '60s.

Seeing the Paradigm Dalek rendered normal shaped...it sort of detracts a bit, yes the hump is a little bit odd, but they're Daleks, pepper pot shapes aren't exactly normal.

Great work.
